We thank God upon every remembrance of you.

We thank God upon every remembrance of you, always in our prayers making request for you all with joy (Phil. 1:3-4).

Damos gracias a Dios cada vez que nos acordamos de ustedes, en todas nuestras oraciones por todos ustedes, siempre oramos con alegría (Fil. 1:3-4).  We want to thank our God and the people He used to minister to us in and through this most wonderful adventure.

Ø      Ken Najar for having the vision to send us and encouraging us to go.

Ø      David Hunsucker for helping us with the logistics and MTW.

Ø      Covenant PCA leadership, pastors and elders for being obedient to our Lord’s Great Commission and entrusting us with such a task.  We thank you and the Body at Covenant for investing in this trip and trust that because of your faith and obedience the Lord will produce great fruit much of which we will probably never know until we get Home.

Ø      MTW for patiently answering all our questions and for the many things you do that we don’t even know about to make trips like ours possible.

Ø      Carol Oban for working tirelessly with us and helping us to be a sweet aroma to our Mexican brothers and sisters.  Thank you for planning and helping us accomplish our work goals and never allowing us to lose sight of the enduring goal of building Christian character through our relationships with His people in Mexico.  You were a delight to be with!

Ø      Haury & Smith for your unexpected generosity.  Again, may the Lord continue to bless you with much success so that you can continue to invest in His Kingdom.

Ø      Martha Amaro, as we told you when we first met you, you were an answer to our prayers.  Thank you for being a willing servant for so much translation work at the last minute.  Because of you, many did not fall asleep on us!

Ø      Everyone who prayed for us, especially our SS class.

Ø      And how do we thank the Giver of all good things?  Nothing is good enough but only what He Himself has given us, the praise and glory of His Beloved Son.

Bethel, a modern day Philippi - SET NINE - FOOD AND THE FINISH LINE

Filed under: Uncategorized on Sunday, October 7th, 2007 by LFesko | No Comments

Food: If you’re looking for really good Mexican food, you need to go to

Bethel because we had delicious meals every day!  Amalia Conde, the pastor’s wife, and Delia Davila are excellent cooks.  They took great care to prepare delicious and healthy meals.  The children never complained about the food and always ate … no, they devoured everything!  Thank you Amalia and Delia!

The last 6 pictures are the finished rooms… Some before… during… and final wall colors… and then it’s off to the races… at the airport heading home… we’ll be able to flush toilet paper again!

Ready … Get set … GO!

Bethel, a modern day Philippi - SET EIGHT - Quinceañera celebration

Filed under: Uncategorized on Sunday, October 7th, 2007 by LFesko | No Comments

Quinceañera celebration:  On the last evening at

Bethel, there was supposed to be a Noche Mexicana—a Mexican meal for us.  However, Pastor Eraclio shared with us that Adilene was turning 15, but her parents could not afford the traditional birthday celebration, and would it be OK if we did the celebration instead.  WOW!  What a great opportunity to do something for somebody else instead of ourselves.  It was a wonderful celebration, which we will never forget, especially our three little girls, as Adilene looked so beautiful in her (borrowed) gown.  By the way, the Chevy S-10 we told you about belonged to her parents.  How they acquired it was such a blessing to them that they committed to use it for the Lord’s work.  They give not out of their abundance but out of their poverty.  How could we deny them this special celebration?  What a great lesson and blessing this was!

Bethel, a modern day Philippi SET SEVEN - FUN

Fun: We had one day of “Diversion” where Carol, Pastor Eraclio, and Jonathan Gonzalez, Mrs. Conde’s brother, took us to the BIOPARQUE, or as we would say… the ZOO!  It was a beautiful open range type zoo… and the animals were very aggressive… they knew we had food in cups to feed them.

Bethel, a modern day Philippi - SET FIVE - THE ORPHANAGE

Orphanage:  Casa Hogar is really a home for children with parents who have problems either with drugs or are incarcerated.  We spent a day cleaning their yard, playground and exterior… as well as spending time with the children and a small party with a piñata and oh yes… just in case they didn’t get enough candy when the piñata finally gave up, there was a big bag of candy for each child, which our children filled, helped shop for, and distributed.

Bethel, a modern day Philippi - SET THREE - WORKSHOP

Filed under: Uncategorized on Sunday, October 7th, 2007 by LFesko | No Comments

Workshop: We spent three hours each evening on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in a workshop studying “Shepherding a Childs Heart”.  The adults presented the material and the children opened the workshops by singing The Lord is My Shepherd or Be Thou My Vision, then to return from break they sang Covenant Child, and to close they sang the Aaronic Blessing.  Did I mention that the temperature was in the high 90’s each day and there was NO air-conditioning…!?

Bethel, a modern day Philippi

Here we go…Nashville International Airport…waiting for the airship to

Mexico ….the church which used to be two houses now

Bethel, a church plant, in Apodaca, in the state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

With the following narration and pictures, we hope you will see why we call Bethel a modern day Philippi—a place of joy, humility, generosity, servanthood, and contentment.  Our mission in Mexico was to study the book “Shepherding a Child’s Heart” by Tedd Tripp, paint three Sunday School classrooms, clean a playground, and spend a day at Casa Hogar, an orphanage.  We arrived at the Saturday Kids’ Club–a baptism by piñata into the culture.  It worked!  Our children just jumped right in and what they couldn’t communicate in words, they did in sign language.  You can see that the adults had some fun too.
